Among the various instances of grant-making and projects aimed at integrating immigrants into the community, providing consultations, and assessing the needs of such families, I find a particular sense of inspiration in witnessing a community where people simply extend a helping hand to one another. Whether it's offering assistance to the elderly and seriously ill immigrants, constructing housing for foster families and individuals transitioning from boarding schools, or supporting those struggling with addiction, the ethos of mutual aid prevails.
One such community that embodies this spirit is located in the village of Shcherbinivka in Cherkasy. Here, individuals from the Christian community undertake remarkable endeavors with limited resources on a daily basis. While I may not currently identify as religious, I am deeply moved by their approach. Unlike the often fruitless rhetoric of endless talks, seminars, and trainings held in lavish venues, the tangible impact of grassroots efforts in Shcherbinivka is unmistakable.
During my visit to Shcherbinivka, I had the opportunity to witness firsthand the tireless dedication of individuals like Taras, a foster father who, alongside his children, erected a greenhouse and renovated an old house to accommodate adopted children. I observed Ruslan and his team tirelessly caring for grandparents from Bakhmut while simultaneously constructing a new home and maintaining employment in the city. Vitalik, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, spent his nights chopping firewood to heat the premises where two large foster families resided. Additionally, I met Pastor Sergiia, who not only oversees these initiatives but also serves as a foster father to over 10 children while engaging in construction projects.
These experiences underscore the profound impact that a community united in its commitment to altruism can achieve, even in the face of adversity. Shcherbinivka serves as a testament to the transformative power of collective action and solidarity in addressing the needs of the most vulnerable among us.
Of course, in the midst of all this human anthill, no one is perfect. Many have endured difficult lives with traumatic experiences and numerous setbacks. However, the project in Shcherbynivka somehow appears to me to be much livelier and more beneficial than those of some large grant-making organizations, whose main accomplishment often lies in their ability to successfully write a grant and showcase it globally.
I genuinely desire for more charitable funds to be directed towards real-life projects, such as the one in Shcherbynivka, where individuals assist others every day despite having very limited resources. Additionally, I wish for more people to become aware of the existence of such projects.
As a result, I would greatly appreciate your informational and financial support for the project.
