Good afternoon!
I was born in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine, in October 1979, and have lived in this city almost all my life. I am a programmer by education, but I have been involved in the management of charitable organizations and fundraising for many years.
In 2004, together with volunteers, we founded the deti.zp.ua project and a little later - the fund " Happy child". Over the years, we were able to help thousands of Ukrainian children, build several houses for foster families, and purchase medical equipment for many hospitals. In total, from 2007 to 2022, assistance in the amount of about 6.5 million dollars was provided, our donors were the embassies of the USA, Germany, Japan, the Renaissance Foundation and others.
But it has always bothered me that as soon as a seriously ill person or a person with a disability turns 18, many programs stop helping. In 2012, we created a separate "Helpus" fund to improve this situation.
Now the work of "Helpus" is focused on helping to create houses of supported living (group houses) for adults with mental and other forms of disability. Also, we dream of contributing to the reform of psycho-neurological institutions for adults (PNI) and the creation of a modern system of assistance to people with mental disabilities. Since 2016, Sashko - a person with physical and mental disabilities who has spent 24 years in special institutions since birth - has been living in my large foster family. Therefore, I understand the issue of helping such people and its importance.
We also dream of creating a permanent Helpus Circle of Friends. Thanks to the constant donations of people who trust each other, we can help many seriously ill people.
I will be very glad to hear your thoughts and, perhaps, proposals regarding cooperation and development of the "Helpus" project!
